The South Sudanese refugee crisis continues, with 4,854 people fleeing to Uganda in the course of 3 days. The UNHCR emergency update reports that from August 27, 2016 to Autust 29, 2016:
- New arrivals from various regions of South Sudan reported fighting, looting, and killing.
- The UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, visited Adjumani to assess the emergency response to refugees.
- 1,362 refugees were transported to the new Bidibidi Refugee Settlement, bringing the total number relocated there to 31,902.
- The new Bidibidi Refugee Settlement received 10 wheelchairs.
- 137 people at Bidibidi Refugee Settlement participated in a gender-based violence awareness program.
