The Himalayan Times reported that the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has expressed serious concern for the deaths attributed to the cold wave and how the extreme temperature are crippling normal life. The NHRC warns people have died from the common cold, fever, and diarrhea and has urged the government to send aid.

“Highly disadvantaged groups, senior citizens, women, children and patients have been hit the hardest by the cold snap, and local hospitals and health posts are having a tough time delivering curative services for the want of health workers and medicines,” read a press release issued by the NHRC.

Real Medicine Foundation (RMF) arrived in Nepal shortly after the April 2015 earthquake, and we *continue to provide relief, medical, and educational support in several regions of the country. RMF Nepal’s cold wave relief efforts are concentrated in the Terai Region. We are working with a local partner organization and the local government to provide relief through free health camps for the cold affected and the provision of blankets and warm clothing for the families most affected in the region.
