Policlínico Peruano Americano Update

November 30, 2009

Carly Panchura

The Real Medicine Clinic in Peru continues to focus their services on education and prevention in the city of San Clemente, Peru. There are 30,000 people in the immediate district of San Clemente and 125,000 in the city of Pisco. By focusing on education and prevention initiatives, we hope the direct beneficiaries are able to spread the word to their families and community. In the month of November, the clinic staff provided various informational speeches on topics such as obesity and vaccines and provided health services to 97 patients.

This month, clinic staff began planning the Chocolatada, a distinct aspect of Christmas in Peru where those who are more fortunate offer a bit of Christmas cheer to poor children, including a cup of hot chocolate, some bread, sweets or maybe a toy. RMF's Chocolatada event, scheduled for December 19th, will provide donated gifts to the local children who attend the clinic. The Clinic Staff has also begun distributing letters to various entities in the city of San Clemente in order to request their participation in a parade to observe the day of the world fight against HIV/AIDS.

We received a visit from our main funding partner, Direct Relief International this month. Thank you Direct Relief for all of your support!! The clinic continues to request support for supplies and medications. For more information, please contact Carly Panchura at carly@realmedicinefoundation.org.
