RMF Continues Support

Food Purchases Stabilize Operations

RMF continued to provide financial support to the Precious Children’s Centre in Kawempe, Kampala, which takes care of orphans and vulnerable children. The funding from RMF is used to purchase food for the children. This has helped to keep more children in class and stabilize the center’s operations.

Development Projects

Dormitories are Renovated

As a result of RMF’s monthly donation for food, the school is able to spend more of its own funds on development projects. For example, it has been able to renovate the dormitories and buy new beds for the children. The matron of the children is pleased with the state of the school and reported that the children are well-fed and satisfied. As a result, they no longer suffer from sleep disturbances as a result of hunger, especially the younger ones. The matron also reported that she is paid on time, which improves her motivation while working.

RMF’s Monthly Donation Frees Up Funds

Saving for a New Kitchen

The Precious Children’s Center has also been saving funds to construct a better kitchen than the old one. The school’s largest expenditures are food and staff salaries, so RMF’s contribution goes directly to its primary need areas, and thus the school is able to work such developments using the little money saved up from the school fees of paying students.

New Curriculum Activities

“Speech Day” Performances Held

As the income base for the school widens due to RMF’s donation, the school is able to add curriculum activities. For example, the school organized a Speech Day in which students performed for their parents, and the school was also able to buy prizes for the children who performed well.

  • Support children’s nutrition
  • Strengthen operations of the Precious Children’s Centre
  • Strategize ways to improve, expand, and create projects

Founded by Kawempe Division native and OPM officer Robert Baryamwesiga in 2011, the Precious Children’s Centre provides food, shelter, rehabilitation, and primary education to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and former street children. Real Medicine Foundation began supporting the Precious Children’s Centre in 2015, providing funds for nutritious food, which has improved the children’s health and concentration and stabilized operations at the Precious Children’s Centre.
