One of the great resources in Los Angeles which the Real Medicine Foundation has partnered with is Health Net. Health Net offers health education classes to provider groups, schools, hospitals and community-based organizations in Los Angeles County. A Health Net Health Educator will provide preventive health information concerning common health issues and bring health education materials for distribution. Topic offerings include the below:
- Adolescent Health (“Facing the Change”)
- Drug Awareness
- Diabetes
- Domestic Violence
- Fitness
- Gang Awareness
- Infant/Child Safety
- Men’s Health
- Nutrition/Obesity Prevention
- Parenting
- Prenatal/Postpartum Care
- Stress Management
Since August of 2009, the Real Medicine Foundation has partnered with Health Net to provide the Nutrition/Obesity Prevention Class once per month. The monthly 1-hour program is an interactive course for mothers concerned with obesity. Target topics include diet, nutrition, vitamins, and weight-loss. The instructor is Andy Padilla, pictured below, a dynamic instructor with a passion for education.
