Holiday Update

December 21, 2009

Carly Panchura

On December 19th, the Real Medicine Foundation hosted a holiday party at the Florence Western Medical Center. The children began the morning with a session of kids’ yoga and then the party began. The children spent the afternoon decorating cookies, doing artwork, and singing carols. They left with a gift bag full of gifts that Real Medicine volunteers had collected ranging from snacks to toys and school supplies.

As 2009 draws to a close, the Real Medicine Foundation is proud to have hit its one year anniversary of offering Saturday programs to the children of South Los Angeles. We have had a great turn-out for yoga, art, reading, fitness, etc. Marketing for the programs is done by handing out flyers to parents and discussing the programs when they bring their children in to see the doctor. The Florence Western staff keeps a log of names and phone numbers of the past attendees and the new attendees that show an interest in the programs and calls them the day before the program to remind them. The staff helps to serve delicious and nutritious snacks which the office manager and Real Medicine Foundation buy or cook for them.
