Real Medicine Foundation Providing Aid To Haitian Earthquake Victims

Los Angeles, CA
Today the Real Medicine Foundation has announced that it will be sending personnel directly to Haiti to provide medical personnel and other aid services for earthquake relief efforts in addition to delivering donations it has been collecting on its website, www.RealMedicineFoundation.org.
In Haiti, Real Medicine Foundation will directly provide emergency medical care, food and water in the short term, and support efforts for the longer term rebuilding process. RMF’s unique approach to humanitarian relief involves partnering with local groups wherever they are to ensure sustainable solutions that will exist long after the public spotlight has moved on.
Founder and CEO Dr. Martina Fuchs is preparing to personally join the Real Medicine Foundation envoy to Haiti early next week. “We can not begin to imagine the devastation Haiti has experienced. It is important to me to personally see what can be done there, and to offer every resource Real Medicine Foundation has to the people of Haiti.”
Haiti experienced a 7.0 earthquake on Tuesday afternoon, the region’s worst earthquake in 200 years. An estimated 3 million people- on third of Haiti’s population – are believed to be injured and homeless. Among the wreckage was a fully occupied hospital, indicating an even greater need for medical care and attention.
Real Medicine Foundation (www.realmedicinefoundation.org) provides humanitarian support to people in disaster, post-war, and poverty-stricken areas of the world. Founder and CEO Dr. Martina Fuchs created the organization in 2005 in direct response to her own experiences providing post-tsunami aid in Sri Lanka. The organization’s network has since grown into an immense network of “friends helping friends” and is dedicated to rebuilding the communities that need it the most. RMF believes that "real" medicine is focused on the person as a whole, inclusive of medical/physical, emotional, economic and social support. RMF works in partnership with local groups wherever they are to ensure that the clinics and solutions it creates will be sustainable. RMF currently has clinics and projects around the world, including Myanmar, Peru, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Sudan, Uganda, the United States, and more.
