Here is a brief report on the medicines and medical supplies RMF Uganda bought in Kampala and delivered to the Nakivale Refugee Settlement.

RMF was received warmly by the Refugee Desk Officer, Western region, Mr. Omondi, as you can see below:  The drugs provided by RMF were mainly anti-malarial drugs, antibiotics, pain killers, etc. as it had been assessed and was requested by the health workers at Nakivale Health Centres III and II.  Below is the medical personnel receiving the drugs at Nakivale Health Centre III.  This boosted both health centres of Nakivale in their work as they are receiving a new influx of refugees from Burundi.

Background

Amid violence in Burundi, thousands of people are fleeing to safety in neighboring states. According to the UNHCR, over 250,000 Burundians have left their country with more than 27,000 of them seeking shelter in Nakivale, Uganda. In light of this emergency, RMF Uganda has undertaken a new refugee support project at the border of Tanzania in Western Uganda near Mutukula in the Nakivale Refugee Settlement. RMF will be continuously monitoring the gaps that UNHCR and OPM are unable to fill and providing medicine, medical supplies and other supplies at the settlement.
