Long-Term Medical Support for Children Q3 2014 Report

Project Goal:
Provide long-term medical support and treatment to children suffering from congenital health conditions affecting Growth Hormone production and cholesterol modulation.                         

Project Objectives:
To coordinate and manage the system which delivers treatment to the children, provides medical consultations and ensures patient compliance to treatment protocols to optimize the children’s chances for growth and maximum health benefits.

Summary of RMF-sponsored activities carried out during the reporting period under each project objective:

  • Organized and held 3 monthly meetings for the months of July, August and September.
  • Information was collected from the children about their treatment & progress at the monthly meetings.
  • Traveling expenses and nutritious food packages were also provided for the children and their families.
  • The food parcels worth Rs.2,199/= each were handed over to the 5 children by Nishantha Sandakelum & Minerva Fernando.

MADUMEKALA
 
July 2014

  • She is now 20 years old and came to the meeting with her mother. She obtained 4 vials of Growth Hormone for the month of July 2014. Madumekala is also continuing sex hormone medication, Climen 1 Tablet daily.
  • As Prof. Sujeewa had instructed the Growth Hormone Therapy was increased again from 10 clicks to 12 clicks. Project Coordinator of RMF Minerva Fernando had given the responsibility to the parents to administer the injection as there were some problems of travelling late in the evening.

August 2014

  • In the month of August 2014, Prof. Sujeewa had again increased the dosage of Growth Hormone to 14 clicks but there was no change in the height for this time duration

September 2014

  • Remained at 14 clicks but no change in height.

FAZEER AHAMED
 
July 2014

  • Fazeer did not attend the July meeting.

August 2014

  • Fazeer attended the August meeting received 4 vials of Growth Hormone injections and a food parcel.  His dosage is 10 clicks daily at night.

September 2014

  • Fazeer attended the September meeting but there weren’t any vials of hormone as the hospital had run out.
  • Fazeer is now in Grade 12 at Wayamba Royal College at Kurunegala. He studies Economics, Information Technology & Accounting for his Advanced Level; he will be sitting for his examination in the year 2016.
  • No change in height reported.

July 2014

  • Madura received 4 vials of Growth Hormone in July and he had grown in height.

August 2014

  • Madura received 4 vials of Growth Hormone in August and reported no change in height.

September 2014

  • Madura received 4 vials of Growth Hormone in September and reported no change in height.
  • Madura had undergone an operation on his knee cap which was damaged due to an accident.

GAYAN MADUSHANKA

July 2014

  • In the month of July Gayan received 2 vials of Growth Hormone and received an injection of Testoviron on July 8th.
  • Gayan now attends a new school in Hambantota District at Ambalantota which has a special program for Gayan’s learning disabilities.

August 2014

  • In the month of August Gayan received 4 vials of Growth Hormone.

September 2014

  • In the month of September Gayan received 2 vials of growth hormone.

  • Tharindu’s increased medication continues taking Rosuvastatin 40mg & Ezetimibe 10mg every night. He also received a food parcel and fat free milk.

August 2014
