Sam Okia holds a Diploma in Nursing from the Soroti School of Comprehensive Nursing. He volunteered with RMF at Bidibidi Refugee Settlement in Yumbe district, and was later transferred to Panyadoli Health Centre III in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement. Sam has undergone additional training on the following topics: medicine management, training trainees in ART management, resource mobilization, evaluation, and malaria control. Sam has worked as a supervisor with the Soroti Catholic Diocese in the Kyera Health Centre III. He also worked in contract with Tororo district in the implementation of the PMTCT program in Mukuju Health Centre IV, and he has worked as a diocesan medical coordinator in Bukedi.
Sam is a fan of Arsenal F.C. and a supporter of Villa F.C. of Uganda.
