South Sudan

Changing the Numbers

South Sudan is one of the world’s most dangerous places to give birth – an estimated 200,000 women die of labor complications each year. But RMF has been working to change that. In 2010, we co-founded South Sudan’s first accredited College of Nursing and Midwifery in Juba. Training a new generation of professionals is a critical part of rebuilding a health care infrastructure that had been decimated by more than two decades of civil strife and war. Our first class of newly minted diploma nurses and midwives graduated in August 2013.
