RMF Volunteer Ideas

I can...

What it takes...

Organize a toy drive
Organize a car wash
Organize a clothing drive
Organize a clothing swap for your friends
Organize a cocktail party to benefit RMF Get a volunteer to teach a cooking class, hold a brunch for your friends. Talk to us about how gather donations using our website.
Organize an event for upcoming vision trips Let us know where you want to hold it and we’ll let you know if there is an upcoming trip planned. Find a bookstore, restaurant or other location that will host for a few hours, let us know the date, and we’ll tell you who is available to speak at it. Get some drinks and appetizers donated, hold a raffle, and hopefully raise a lot of interest in the trip.
Volunteer my IT/web skills
Volunteer my video editing skills
Volunteer my writing skills to publish articles in magazines/newspapers
Volunteer your restaurant or office as meeting space Currently we need office space in the Los Angeles area. Preferably a space open during evenings and on weekends, but daily space is needed as well.
Gather items to auction on e-bay
Gather silent auction items for an event Gift baskets, art, bottles of wine, jewelry. If you bundle lower priced items together with a common theme it makes a more desirable package.
Ask companies to donate a gift certificate for a silent auction Take your business card or an RMF brochure wherever you go. After dinner at a restaurant, or shopping at a store, ask the manager if they’ll donate. Follow up by phone the next day if you don’t get it then and there.
Ask companies to sponsor RMF events Personal contacts work best. But for cold-calls, send info by mail, then follow up by phone. Always start with the VP of Marketing, then try the Philanthropy arm or PR arm
Ask travel agencies to donate flights or trips for silent auction Visit them in person or use a personal contact who you have already booked a trip with.
Ask restaurants to see if they would host a free event (Kula Sushi does this) The best way to organize it is for the restaurant to charge an entry fee, then have them write you a check so they can take the tax write-off.
None of the above, but I have some great ideas Let us know what your skills are by emailing us at info@realmedicinefoundation.org
