  • Dr. Martina Fuchs is the Executive Director of the Real Medicine Foundation. She is a physician who has worked and trained in Germany, the US, Chile and Sri Lanka. Her specialty is pediatrics with a fellowship in pediatric intensive care. She has a PhD in pediatric psychiatry and is trained in alternative medicine as well, i.e. she completed an acupuncture training and certification in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She is the creator of RealMedicine.TV.
     
  • Carissa Schumacher is the Managing Director of the Real Medicine Foundation.. She is a strategic planning consultant in the healthcare industries focused in biotechnology, biomedical venture capital, and medical nonprofit organization development. She is also a freelance writer focused in medical/science writing and a global human health rights activist. As Principal to Infostrategies Consulting, she has executed strategic business plans and operational models for a myriad of public and private biotechnology companies. She has also served as Principal to Medaetas Ventures, a fund focused in cancer prevention research and initiatives, and worked in business development and corporate relations at Biogen Idec. She received a scholarship to the Graduate Program for International Economics and Business at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in the Netherlands and holds a BS in Behavioral Neuroscience and Biotechnology Management from Brown University.
     
  • Elaine Fortin is Chief Information Officer for the Real Medicine Foundation. She is Canadian, and works as a software engineer at Harvard University and the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, MA. She holds a Master's degree in Information Technology from Harvard. She is also a celtic harper, one of the 'Gentle Muses', a group of harpers who play for patients and staff of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She has been active in Sri Lanka post-tsunami.
     
  • Dr. Kevin C. Thomas is Director of Strategic Planning for RMF. He is an anaesthesiologist and assistant surgeon, who worked at the trauma center of the Martin Luther King Hospital Los Angeles. He currently is getting an additional degree at the UCLA School of Public Health. He has extensive experience in family and international medicine.
     
  • Dan Flugger is the Director of Post Production for the Real Medicine Foundation. He is a visual FX artist in New York City. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business from The University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a Master's in Television Production from Emerson College in Boston. He has been a volunteer with various organizations including The Habitat for Humanity, New York Cares, Universal Force Healing Center, and Meals on Wheels.
     
  • Sarah Stern is a former teacher specializing in early childhood development. She also was the office administrator for 11 years for a construction company specializing in earthquake mitigation. She is currently in charge of administrative operations for Real Medicine.
     
  • Carly Panchura, MPH is a volunteer for the Real Medicine Foundation, based in Los Angeles. She carries degrees in public health and biomedical engineering and has experience in the areas of project management, program evaluation, and technology transfer. Her interests include medical devices and assistive technology, disability, and international health. She has been a volunteer with various organizations including the Rehabilitation Engineering Society of North America's Special Interest Group on International Appropriate Technology, the Arthritis Foundation, and Partners of the Americas.
     
  • Dr. Andrea Dymally Shirley is Real Medicine Foundation's Director of Behavioral Medicine. She is a Clinical Intervention Counselor with the Community Day School (CDS) in the Los Angeles Unified School District. CDS is an educational option program for kids who have been expelled.She is a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice at the Howard Hughes Center. Her master's degrees are in school counseling, marriage and family therapy, and art therapy. Ms. Shirley holds a PhD in clinical psychology with an emphasis in behavioral medicine.
     
  • Nancy Kalinski is a web developer with a medical specialty. Having managed the website for Harvard University's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary for many years, she now freelances in medical web development services.
    She holds two Masters degrees - one as a Physician Assistant, one in Counseling Psychology and two technical certificates, one in Web Development, one in Database Programming. She currently practices as a Physician Assistant in Manchester, NH. When not following her medical and web talents, she can be found teaching skiing or fiddling for dances.
     
  • Adela Hruby earned a B.A. in Government and Russian and East European Studies from Cornell in 1997 and spent 10 years in the translation and publishing industries before discovering that she seeks a way of life -- and a career -- that more directly benefits others; hence, she joined the Real Medicine Foundation. Alongside her pre-medical studies at Harvard, Adela freelances as a graphic designer, editor and writer, and volunteers with various medical and cultural organizations.
     
  • Javier (Enzo) Guerrero graduated from California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks, CA with a degree in Business. He has been in banking over the last 16 years. His experience includes assignments in Private Banking, Wealth Management and Trusts & Estates Administration. Enzo will support Real Medicine with his skills in administration, coordinating, networking and fundraising.
     
  • Liz Elliott is a word processor in the accounting industry, as well as a musician and music teacher, and actress, director and producer of theater. She is a published poet, and a writer of novels, plays, short films and short stories. Liz is proud to help raise funds and write in a variety of capacities for the foundation.
     
  • Nancy Downer is a member of the Real Medicine Foundation development team. She is a development officer at Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital and is responsible for raising funds for the Center of Excellence for Women's Health. Nancy has experience in volunteer board establishment, case planning, and development communications. She graduated from Trinity College in Connecticut with a degree in women's studies and concentration in gender and development.
     
  • Juliana Samper is a young Colombian woman currently living in New York City. She moved to the United States in 2002 to attend graduate school and has worked in Boston and New York ever since. She is currently engaged with the real estate branch of BlackRock, an investment management firm, as an associate within their acquisitions team.
    She has a passion for reading and outdoor activities (i.e. biking, hiking, diving, etc) and would like to dedicate some time and efforts to help people in need.
     
  • Corey Hall has had an interest in developmental economics since his first experience abroad in high school. He studied international economics in college and spent his junior year in Thailand focusing on developmental issues. He has volunteered at the Mother Teresa house in India, a leprosy center in Thailand, and an English school in Venezuela. He will help set up microfinance programs.
     
  • Krina Patel's work with children began with the UTSAH project in her home country India in 1985. UTSAH, a word that means enthusiasm in several Indian languages set out to include all children, especially children with special needs in arts programs. Since then Krina has continued to develop her vision and understanding of education as an inclusive process of building capacities. Through her academic and professional work Krina promotes a model of learning that is based on encouraging thinking in social situations. Krina Patel holds an M.S.Ed from the Bank Street College of Education in New York City and a Master of Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Cambridge Massachusetts where she continues her research for the doctoral degree in Education. Her professional experience includes work with various organizations in India, Italy and the United States.
     
  • Jenni Zhi Myers An avid disciple of both Eastern philosophies and Western innovation, Jenni interweaves the two hemispheres into a balanced lifestyle. One side calls for corporate profession and the other for yoga study.
    As a child educated in several countries, Jenni became the first female president of the International Speakers' Forum - a college organization that partnered with ambassadors to bring cultural awareness to the public.
    On the corporate side, 10 years in marketing of professional services had brought her to AXA Advisors as a marketing director.
     
  • Steve Henrichon, MS is currently studying pre-medicine in a post-bacculareate program through UCLA. Steve works for CoreMedical Group as a headhunter in the healthcare sector specializing in allied health modalities. In his spare time, he volunteers with PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) as well as with the Emergency Department at the Children’s Hospital of LA. Steve is also involved in medical research at UCLA Medical Center focusing on cardiothoracic surgery. Steve holds a BS in Business Administration and an MS in Telecommunications. He is a yoga enthusiast, avid scuba diver, world traveler, and an Eagle Scout.
     
  • Jamie Chiahui Gao, MFA is a Writer, Director and Film Producer based in Los Angeles. She grew up in Taipei, Taiwan and studied Chinese painting in Tunghai University. At age 24 she moved to the United States, first living near Boston, where she studied video and film-making at Tufts University, graduating with a Master in Fine Arts. Her paintings have shown internationally and won top prizes, including a Silver Maple Leaf Medal for Best New Talent at the international Painting Competition in Toronto, Canada. Gao’s most recent film, BLUE FIRE, a 66 minute drama she wrote, directed and produced, won the 25th of Asian American New York Film Festival. The film was also an official selection for the New York CineWomen Film Festival and IFP New Filmmaker, and was shown at the Anthology Film Archive Theater and East Village Theater in New York City.
     
  • Jonathan White Growing up a dual citizen and travelling between England and the US, Jonathan has always had a love for international travel, politics and development issues. He holds an MBA in International Business with a focus on Latin America from Thunderbird, School of Global Management, and spent his 3 post-MBA years working at Gap Inc. headquarters in San Francisco in finance, marketing and international strategy positions. His work translating Real Medicine business documents to Spanish for the Peru earthquake project has been greatly appreciated.
     
  • Richard Seifert helps to oversee RMF’s business development. Richard has spent the last twenty years in business development in the private sector. He has taken two start-up companies to great heights and has a background in hi tech, and fashion. Richard’s passion for giving back and his own personal drive help fuel his outreach for Real Medicine Foundation.
     
  • Earnest A. Thomas is an experienced IT professional with a wide experience in the industry on multiple roles and technologies. He is presently working as a senior consultant with one of the leading Information Technology companies in India. Earnest graduated from Bharathidasan University in 1999 with a master's degree in computer applications. Some of his interests include traveling, photography and cooking. He is a native of Kochi from "God's own country" - the South Indian state of Kerala. A fun loving jovial person, he is excited to help and make new friends around the globe.
