  • Kevin Becker, Psy.D. is a psychologist who has specialized in the field of psychological trauma for nearly 20 years. He has worked with individuals, communities, global corporations and governments on a wide variety of topics related to the effects of trauma and crisis. In the wake of September 11th Dr. Becker oversaw multiple projects in New York and Boston that provided support to families and victims of the attacks. He personally led a team of seven professionals in a yearlong research and service project with managers and employees of a government agency who had been housed at the WTC. Following the South Asia tsunami he spent a month in Sri Lanka where he developed and delivered a training program for the government which he used to train professionals from across the country.

    He served as director of The Trauma Center, a specialized research and treatment center, in Boston for nearly 10 years. While there he oversaw the development of local, national and international projects in collaboration with public and private agencies. During his tenure, the center was granted status as a practice site for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and became the first agency in the nation to operate a federally funded crisis intervention and assessment program for human trafficking victims.

    He worked for several years in the private sector as Vice President for Marsh Crisis Consulting, a global consulting firm specialized in crisis readiness planning for Fortune 500 companies. In this position he worked with Ambassador Paul Bremer, who later became Chief Administrator in Iraq.

    Dr. Becker has provided consultation to organizations around the world on issues of leadership and preparedness for organizational crises. He is the director and producer of an award winning documentary PTSD; Beyond Survival, he has published multiple articles on the psychological impact of trauma and crisis and he lectures and trains frequently. In addition to being a principle at Organizational Resilience International, he is the Director of the Institute for Trauma & Crisis in the Continuing Education Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry.

  • Annie Farnsworth, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist who specializes in family, child, and adolescent treatment particularly in the area of psychological trauma and crisis intervention. She has conducted research in the area of social injustice and psychology. She has worked for mental health centers, hospitals, universities, school districts, and helped to develop responsive state wide mental health services for children, youth, and families in Vermont. She has also provided psychological consultation and education to a range of professional groups and organizations. Annie’s pre-doctoral internship included work and training at the National Center for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Boston. She holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Vermont, and a Master’s degree in Education in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University.

  • Penny Haney, Ph.D. is a clinical and forensic psychologist who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families, particularly those who have experienced trauma, court involvement, or other adverse circumstances. She is a frequent lecturer and trainer in the area of child trauma and maltreatment, both locally and nationally, and consults to families, schools, agencies, attorneys, medical and mental health professionals, and courts regarding child/adolescent development, trauma, and mental health. She is currently a staff psychologist at Children's Hospital Boston and at the Youth Advocacy Project (the juvenile public defender's office in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts). Dr. Haney also holds a faculty appointment as an Instructor of Psychology at the Harvard Medical School.

  • Gerri King, Ph.D., social psychologist, is a national and international organizational consultant, as well as a former psychotherapist. She is a founding partner of both Human Dynamics Associates, Inc. and Organizational Resilience International, LLC. Gerri’s expertise is in the areas of building resilient profit and non-profit organizations, facilitating problem solving and decision making, strategic planning, rebuilding teams after major changes and/or crises, training and presenting on a variety of topics, and working in the field to help groups assimilate new members and manage critical change.   • Jim "Mr. Jim" Kinhan is a trained clinical social worker who has practiced his profession in a variety of child and family focused clinical settings in NYC and Westchester county, in Southern Colorado and in N.H. He was a primary partner in Human Dynamics Associates, Inc and practiced his clinical counseling in a private setting since 1975. After 50 years of clinical work Mr. Jim retired and assumed several volunteer "jobs", most richly as a classroom volunteer in a neighborhood elementary school ( honored as an Outstanding School Volunteer). His clinical work has always brought him into multiple clinical interfaces and collaboration with community agencies such as schools, Headstart, home health agencies, local Red Cross Chapter, and "soup" kitchens etc. As a school volunteer for seven years, "I have learned how to be a therapeutic person/agent within the classroom without the trappings of office, just being present and sharing the trust and love of children," mused Mr. Jim.

  • Guy Sapirstein, Ph.D is a psychologist who specializes in trauma, disaster response and planning for crisis mitigation. A founding partner of ORI Consulting as well as a clinician and senior clinical supervisor at the Trauma Center in Brookline, MA, Guy has made it his priority to focus on the needs of people who have experienced crises - be they personal or organizational in nature. Since 1987, Guy has worked with people experiencing the effects of civilian trauma (rape, accidents), war/terrorism related trauma as well as natural disasters. He has been involved in efforts following major disasters such as the events of 9/11/2001 and most recently, Hurricane Katrina. In his role as a psychologist he has offered psychosocial support at various stages of a disaster - immediately post disaster in the recovery stages, as well as follow up services to aid and assist in the reconstruction phases of a crisis. A skilled and entertaining facilitator he has lectured on the role of caregivers and professionals in providing trauma informed services. He developed a model for understanding people's behavior following traumatic events based on people's subjective experiences. He has presented this model at conferences both nationally and internationally and has continued to implement its use in various settings.

  • Stephanie Skavenski is a program development specialist currently enrolled in a graduate program studying towards a degree in Social Work and a candidate for the Public Health program at Boston University. She has had several years of experience working with children in a therapeutic residential setting as well as working as a comprehensive case manager for children in the state foster care system. Currently she is involved in creating a chapter of the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center at Northeastern University as well as facilitating the creation of an International Affairs program for students enrolled in the Human Services department at Northeastern University. She has participated in interventions with orphaned children in Mexico and has worked with people displaced by Hurricane Katrina (2005).

  • Jeffrey Weir, MA LCMHC, is a consultant and psychotherapist specializing in traumatic stress in individuals and organizations. He is a founding partner of Organizational Resiliance International (ORI Consulting) and is a supervisor at The Trauma Center in Boston. Through the Trauma Center he co-wrote a grant that established the first agency in the nation to operate a federally funded crisis intervention and assessment program for human trafficking victims. With ORI Consulting he provides consultation and planning for the Human Impact of crisis on organizations. He has worked extensively in the field of trauma including the September 11 attacks in New York and Hurricane Katrina in Dallas, Memphis and Mississippi. He has worked with school systems, governmental agencies and private corporations in dealing with the aftermath of crisis and disaster. He is an experienced trainer, facilitator and speaker and has worked throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Jeffrey lives in New Hampshire where he also has a private psychotherapy practice specializing in the treatment of trauma and has extensive training and experience in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). He was a treating clinician in one of the largest randomized controlled studies comparing EMDR to Fluoxetine in the treatment of PTSD.
