Dr. Taban Martin Vitale is the RMF’s Team Leader, Healthcare Projects, in Juba, South Sudan. He is a South Sudanese national who has spent most of his time in Uganda from 1983 to 2009. Martin holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Uganda. After graduating, he first practiced Medicine in Uganda for one year before moving to South Sudan. Martin’s experience in South Sudan began in September 2009, when he served for the National Ministry of Health for three years implementing TB and TB/HIV projects funded by the Global Fund to Fight HIV/ADS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM). During his time in the Ministry of Health, Martin interacted with a number of UN agencies/local and international NGOs and other stakeholders involved in health care projects in South Sudan. Martin enjoys sports especially football, medical documentaries and music, among others.
