James R. Lanning is a senior global acquisitions and logistics professional with over twenty years’ experience in the international development and relief sector. He has been a leading voice in the industry and a keen advocate in the establishment of best practices for gifts-in-kind (GIK), with a particular focus on transparency and consistency in GIK reporting. He is widely recognized as a leader in the development of disaster preparedness evaluation and coordination protocols. Development of effective approaches to corporate donor funding, as well as personal and civic group funding, are among his strengths.

Jim Lanning has built a business network of over 3,000 contacts in over 100 countries. He has brought together faith-based and secular groups on diverse projects and was an early advocate of public and private institutions working collaboratively in some of the most difficult locations in the world, such as Afghanistan, Djibouti, Haiti, Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen.

Prior to joining RMF, Jim Lanning was the Executive Director of Global Benefits Group Foundation (GBG) in Foothill Ranch, California where he partnered with NGOs and private companies around the world, supporting projects in need of materials and equipment through GIK initiatives and direct financial support. He served for eight years as Director of Acquisitions and Logistics at International Relief and Development (IRD) in Arlington, Virginia, following fourteen years as Director of Acquisitions and Logistics at Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA).

Jim holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management from Columbia Union College. He is also a licensed jet-rated pilot and certified flight instructor. He is married and has three adult children who share his passion for humanitarian work.
